The task of delivering goods over short distances, for example within a city, usually has no problems with delivery to the right address. However, what if there is a need to transport goods a greater distance than delivery within the city, such as a delivery of metal from Ukraine to other countries? Transportation on this scale requires good logistics and has hidden pitfalls.

Let’s say you need to transport a load of copper wire rod using rail. The wire rod itself must be loaded into wagons. To achieve this you need to ascertain where and when the nearest train departure is to the customer’s location, arrange with the chief of railway logistics to allocate the required number of cars, draft all the necessary contracts, ship from the warehouse, fill out all the accompanying paperwork for the goods including customs documents and insurance, transport to the loading/unloading station, then ensure that everything is loaded and shipped in full. Further, the cargo may pass through customs of 2 countries. Each customs office has its own records and inspections which sometimes leads to unreasonable shipment delays. When customs are finally approved, the metal cargo further continues on its way through the territory of another country. And here it would seem, there is little or nothing to foretell or prevent further trouble. There is always the possibility that when changing the composition, rolling freight can be hooked onto the incorrect train heading in a different direction, inevitably leading to the cargo arriving at its final station much later than expected causing loss of customer respect. One should also not forget to mention the elementary risk to the cargo from theft and/or intentional damage.

As you can see, the delivery of goods over long distances by several modes of transport is a complex, time-consuming and multi-pass operation, at each stage of which there are a thousand and one nuances to be executed. With the right approach, such an operation may well be carried out by amateur who is far from a professional in the transportation of goods. However, the cargo delivery process described above has many pitfalls that lie in wait for the carrier along this path.

The best solution to this problem is entrusting an organization that provides professional forwarding and customs brokerage services, allowing you, as the customer, to save time, anxiety, money and get your cargo to its destination intact, on time, without overpayments
